What Causes Thick Slimy Discharge In Spite Of Being On Pill?

I'm on the pill, and I''ve been that for 2 and a half year.. I got my period as expected saturday.. but, my period is really weird.. It is really slimy and thick and It hangs out of my vagina .. Is this normal or should I worry ?
