Hi I have been told I have a thickened uterus lining of 22mm before period and then still 16mm three days after a period. I am 35 years of age with two natural births the latest been in March 2015. I have googled the thickened uterus lining and have caused myself huge anxiety and upset. I have been referred to see a Gynae consultant but there is a huge wait. I have no symptoms my periods are normal not heavy or clots and are every 26 to 28 days. The thickened lining was discovered whilst having an ultrasound for a separate reason. The only thing I can think of is that I was on cerelle in May 2015 for approx 2 weeks which caused daily bleeding and headaches stomach cramps so I stopped. Then I tried cerelle again in October for three weeks again with the daily bleeding headache and stomach cramp so again I stopped. Other than the cerelle I can t think of anything else. My Gp says cerelle wouldn t have caused the thickened lining. What could the cause be and what can I do?

What Causes Thick Uterine Lining?
Hello, The thickening of the uterine lining indicates possibilities of various clinical concerns as: - Hormone level alterations - Recurrent cervical infection - Obesity or over weight induced estrogen changes - Smoking - Primary uterine pathologies - Others In my clinic, I do recommend an evaluation of hormones with endometrial biopsy for best further guidelines in this direction. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
