What Causes Thick Vaginal Discharge?

I'm experiencing vaginal discharge that's white and thick it has no odor I just went to the GYN last friday and she gave me meds for a vaginal infection...but the thick white discharge just started today could this b coming fron the meds that I was taking (metronidazole)?
