What Causes Thick White Finger Nails Post Manicure?

My neighbor recently had her fingernails done for an event. Afterwards, she removed the nail polish and now both of the pinkie nails have turned white and gotten really thick. What could cause this? Does she need to see a doctor or is there an over the counter remedy? Thank you

Hi

Thickening or discoloration of the nails could be suggestive of a fungal infection of the nails.
You should immediately see a nearby dermatologist for confirmation of the diagnosis or you can even click close up pictures of the nails and consult a dermatologist here on this forum.
She might need treatment in the form of regular antifungal agents for a long period to get rid of the infection.
