What Causes Thick Yellow Vaginal Discharge And Cramps After Having Unsafe Sex?
Hi there. I m a 24 y.o. Female. I currently had unprotected sex and took the Plan B just to stay on the safe side however the next day I had unprotected sex again but this time didn t take the Plan B. I ve started noticing a heavy yellow discharge with no smell coming out. It s just thick and a lot and not stringy. More like cottage cheese. As well as a bit of cramping going on. I m a bit nervous about whatever is going on. I just need to know if I should go to an OB/GYN ASAP. Thank you.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse to avoid unwanted or accidental pregnancy. Since you had already taken Plan B following first encounter and had intercourse again the next day, there is no necessity to take another pill again. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day you have taken the pill. In case you do not get proper bleeding by 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately as the pill has a failure rate between 10 to 15%. The thick yellowish discharge what you are complaining looks like yeast infection. Kindly wash the area with warm water and mild antiseptic solution like Savlon thrice daily. You can apply antifungal medication containing Fluconazole as pessary or cream for 3 days. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
