What Causes Thinning And Easy Bruising Of The Skin?
My skin has been thinning, bruising easily. THis weekend I had my elbow in the window of the door and the skin tore. I put a bandaid on it. When I took the bandaid off the next day, it tore more skin off when the adhesive had been. Is there something I can do or take to thicken my skin? YYYY@YYYY
Thinning or bruising of the skin is commonly due to hereditary, aging & too much exposure to UV light. Thinning & bruising skin also occurs due to the side effects of certain medications (Corticosteroids, NSAIDs, Aspirin, Blood thinners). Drug abuse & intake of alcohol, caffeine, smoking & sedentary lifestyle etc.
You are suggested to visit a dermatologist, get physically examined & treated. In the meantime take food rich in omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin C, E, B6 & B12. Take fruits, berries & veggies & exercise regularly. Take well balance diet & always apply sunscreen lotions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
