Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, i have a question about my hair. I ve noticed that the front portion of my hair is thinner than the back portion. My hair has not receded at all, but it is either getting thinner, or balding in evenly in the front of my head. I don t see this often in people, usually their hair recedes. Is there a cause for this? and Is there anything i can do? I am 21, live a healthy lifestyle food wise, and besides being a social drinker, and on occasion i do chewing tobacco, maybe twice a week for both of them.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to androgenetic alopecia. This is due to high dihydrotestosterone on scalp. Using minoxidil solution for local application is helpful for this. But this should be used for long term to get benefit. Using ketoconazole shampoo twice weekly is also recommended. Capixyl gel for local application and saw palmetto supplements also is helpful. It is better to have a consultation with dermatologist to rule out the condition and to manage it. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
