What Causes Throat And Ear Pain?

I HAD A COLD AND WAS FEELING BETTER--THOUGHT IT WAS GONE---NOW I HAVE THROAT AND EAR PAIN WHEN I SWALLOW ONLY---MOTRIN DOES HELP BUT NOT SURE IF I NEED TO SEE MY DOCTOR FOR A THROAT CULTURE OR TO CHECK MY EARS. The only time I have had throat pain was when I had strep and that was twice in the last 5 years.

Hello,
As you have mentioned previous 2 episodes of streptococcal pharyngitis, so, at this time you may again be infected with the same . Inflammation and swelling in throat due to upper respiratory tract infection may lead to Eustachian tube blockage lead to pain and heaviness. so, consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation, but, before that you should go for Throat swab culture and rapid strep test and complete blood count. Drink plenty of boiled and slightly cooled water, take bed rest, and local gargles with dissolved Disprin tab. Take tab. paracetamol 500mg tds, cap. amoxicillin 500mg tds for 10 days.
