What Causes Throat Congestion And Vomiting After Having Food?

I have been having an issue and it seems to be getting worse, I was thinking it was an allergic reaction to something I was eating but it doesn t seem to be triggered by the same thing every time. What happens is my sinus start filling up with mucus then my throats feels congested with mucus then eventually I start vomiting, mostly it appears to be mucus that I am vomiting. Sometimes after repeated bouts of vomiting I do vomit a small amount of the food I have eaten but not much of it. 18 months ago I had surgery to repair a severe hiatal hernia and my gall bladder was removed at the same time. Any ideas? I have had allergies to a variety of things like grass and molds since I was 8 yrs old. I am now 58 and female

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to gastroesophageal reflux disease. I recommend using antacids such as Maloox three times a day. I also recommend using PPI medication to reduce the acid in the stomach. I suggest Omeprazole daily before breakfast.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
