What Causes Throat Discomfort After A Induction Therapy?

I have AML leukemia, I m on my 2 induction round of treatment. Last night I had a feeling like there was something in my throat, like a pill or something. Today it feels the same way. I can actually feel it in my throat with my finger, it feels like it s about dime size/attached. What could this be?

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

It could be mucositis as a result of chemotherapy and neutropenia or a fungal infection of the throat. A clinical examination followed by anti-fungal therapy will help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Deepak Sundriyal, Oncologist
