Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Throat Discomfort After Exposure To Paint Fumes?
I work in a spray paint booth, one week ago I had my mask off for a few seconds and ever since then it s been difficult to breath. Feels as though the airway in my throat is blocked. No chest pain of any sort, just a throat with very little air passing through. What is my best bet to help this out?
The throat pain and breathing difficulty may be due to mucosal reaction to fumes lead to increased secretions or increased mucus production which may lead to symptoms.
Anaphylaxis may lead to bronchospasm, which causes breathing difficulty. Sometimes it may lead to toxic fumes induced pneumonia.
Avoid exposure to fumes further, use bronchodilators, steroids or if necessary antihistamines.
Please consult your physician/pulmonologist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
