Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Throat Discomfort And Difficulty In Swallowing?
I have a tight feeling throat, some difficulty in normal speech, swallowing saliva though no trouble eating...over a year...getting somewhat worse. Have been checked by ENT (scoped to voicebox), no issues found; had endoscopy...no issues found. My PC is at a loss...
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of throat discomfort and difficulty in swallowing which could be due to granular pharyngitis and due to acid reflux disease. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to rule out other condition like sore throat. Doctor may order blood test and throat swab test to confirm diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin or cephalexin) course for around 10 days and vitamin C supplement for quick recovery. Doctor may also prescribe antacid and H2 blocker in case of acidic reflux disease. Avoid spicy food and heavy food and elevate your head while sleeping. For now what you can do is gargling and rinsing with warm saline water ,drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated and take ibuprofen (if not allergic ) or acetaminophen for pain and inflammation.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
