Hello. since yesterday my right side throat gland is sore. I don t have a sore throat or any cold symptoms or anything. Its just very sore. If I push on it a little from the outside it hurts. If I tense up my front/side neck muscles it hurts. I m just wondering what I should do. The left side is fine. Thanks

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have throat gland soreness that hurts on applying pressure externally which is probably due to inflammation of ronsils , the infection can occur due to both bacterial and viral . Sometimes allergic reaction can also cause swelling of glands in throat. I would suggest you to consult ENT Specialist as you will require thorough evaluation. You should take combination of antibiotic along with decongestants. You need anti-inflammatory medication as well. You should incorporate some lifestyle changes like avoid spicy, fried and oily food. Avoid cold beverages. Get adequate rest and do salt water gargles several times a day. Drink plenty of water to keep the throat moist and prevent dehydration. Drink Warm liquids like tea or warm water with honey. You should no smoke at all if you do. You can go for tonsillectomy as well after proper prescription by doctor. Doctor may also refer you to endocrinologist for thyroid problem .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
