What Causes Throat Pain Along With Difficulty In Swallowing?

Recently my hyperactive thyroid is out of control. My Dr. Checked my blood and told me that my thyroid was,very high the numbers but I am still taking my Synthroid 0.88 mcg. My throat hurts my left & right side glands are hurting I have problems swallowing. I feel lymphs on my left side of my neck my left side looks more swollen then my right side. I have noticed that my I have strands of hair falling today I was so upset I washed my hair and I use conditioner so my hair has never gotten tangled well today it did and when I slowly separated it. It broke off my hair keeps breaking and hair fall outs. Even though they have not been able to control my thyroid I have never gotten this before with my hair. Also my Dr. Said that my blood work came back that I was anemic. What can I do please help me. Thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of throat pain along with difficulty in swallowing. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to viral infection or viral pharyngitis or tonsillitis . But as you mention in query about thyroid you should consult ENT specialist as well as endocrinologist. You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, mucolytics like Ambroxol. You can also do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day.Avoid spicy and chilled foods.Take more of fluids and a semisolid diet. Doctor may also recommend tonsillectomy .
