What Causes Throat Pain Along With Lump On Outside Of Throat?
Grown up daughter has severe pain on left side of throat. Tested negative for strep. Can't swallow hardly anything. Does not want to eat. Nothing takes pain away. Has trouble talking in the morning. Can fell a lomp on outside of throat in area. Ideas on what is the problem?
As per your query throat pain along with lump on outside of throat could be due to lymph node enlargement or granular pharyngitis. Lymph node enlargement is most commonly due to infection or inflammation. Feeling of pain in throat requires a clinical assessment of the throat. A clinical assessment of the inner ear is also essential as the type of pain mentioned by you could be due to compression of nerve around the neck and behind the ear.The symptoms mentioned by you are not characteristic of any specific lesion thus clinical assessment is needed.
I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined properly. Till then take proper course of antibiotics to subside infection if any and drink plenty of fluids and water to keep yourself hydrated.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
