What Causes Throat Pain During Swallowing?

Hello Doctor, I have been having this pain in my throat for the past three days and it hurts eveyr time I swallow, or open my mouth to chew food or when I yawn. On the first day it was like the usual pain when I get a throat infection but today being the third day, it hurts exactly on the left tonsil. Also, I have cold and the phlegm is of rust color in the morning when I brush and yellow during the day. Kindly advice. Thank you.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
If you had a fever too, all these could suggest a possibility of a throat infection..Swallowing will be indeed painful.Opening the jaw when yawning might be because of an associated lymphnode infection or due to your Jaw joint inflammation( arthritis like).. I suggest you to consult with a nearby ENT, who will examine your throat and do the needful.Take care
