What Causes Throbbing And Pain In Legs And Feet?

My legs and feet are throbbing, aching, burning with a sense of numbness. Around the knees and upper thighs the pain is more severe. I am having trouble sleeping because of the constant pain. The pain in the day time seems to be getting worse as well. Can you tell me what this could be?
