What Causes Throbbing Pain In Between Jaw And Ear?
I have had a sharp throbbing pain that is intermittent in between my jaw and ear and it varies on which side of my head. It started on the left and now sometimes occurs on the right. That has been happening the last two days. Now tonight all of my top teeth have gone numb. I had just finished a soda but I have no clue what this could possibly be.
Understanding your concern. As per your query throbbing pain in between jaw and ear is mainly due to occipital neuralgia, obstruction of salivary gland ducts, tooth infection, inflammation of tonsils. Localized inflammation or infection, gout, diabetes, blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis), and frequent lengthy periods of keeping the head in a downward and forward position are also associated with this. I would suggest you to start warm compresses on the affected side and do massage, and physical therapy and consult neurologist for proper diagnosis and start treatment as per that. Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory medications and muscle relaxers, such as baclofen. Occipital nerve blocks will also be the treatment options. If it is related to tooth infection go for root canal treatment of concerned tooth as it is causing space infection.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
