What Causes Throbbing Pain In Chest After Taking Alcohol?

Hi, I suffer from acid reflux and take lanzoprazol to treat it. Quite regularly though if I have a beer or two I get a considerable throbbing pain soon after that starts in the center of the chest and radiates towards my belly button. It s really quite bad and generally forces me to lie down. I am 35 years old and find the pain really quite worrying. Hope you can help. Thanks

Hello
You mentioned that you are having acid reflux , whenever ,you drink beer or alcohol feel excruciating pain in the center of chest .
Beer contains spirit ( although around 6 % ) but it is irritating in nature , so this produces burning sensation because already having acid reflux i.e. further aggravate the condition.
Now these measures may be useful for you:
Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for 2 hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid one should NOT DRINK ALCOHOL ( OR BEER ) or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy food.
Also take some antacid but if symptoms are sever you may need drugs like rebamipide 100 mg 2 tablet twice in day for 3-6 months .
Also take pantoprazole-d one or two .
Since this is prescription so consult a physician and get his opinion.
Hope this will help you.
But also get in Upper G I endoscopy to rule out peptic ulcer disease.
