What Causes Throbbing Pain In Kidneys?

I m having pain that s making me double over, when I went to ER last month they said it was flank pain. I can barely walk now, the pain shoots right to my back. Just laying here my back (I think my kidneys are throbbing). To get up I need to hold on to something. The pain is now also on my side now. Should seek medical attention?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pain in the flank region that is making you double over could be due to calculi or stone in the kidney or the urinary tract.
The pain associated with stones starts in the flank region and then radiates down towards groin.
This kind of pain is colicky in nature and is very severe.
If this is the kind of pain that you are experiencing then I suggest you to consult a surgeon for X-ray and ultrasound of KUB region (kidney-ureter-bladder region).
These investigations will determine presence or absence of stones in kidney or the urinary tract.
In case any stone is detected, it can be manged on the basis of its location and size.

Thanks and take care
