What Causes Throbbing Pain In Thigh?

Hi . . . I have had a throbbing type feeling the past several days in my left thigh. I have an appointment with a neurologist on May 4, referred by an ortho doc because I recently learned that I have a compression deformity fracture of my L1 vertabra. This symptom is new and I'm wondering if it could be related? I am 55, 5'6", 200 lbs. I had an x-ray, then MRI, because of back pain after stopping 6 months of prednisone due to inflammation of my lungs. This is when the fracture was found.
