What Causes Tightness And Pain In Throat?

Hello I am a 24 year old male, after lying down for a couple of hours I feel my throat tight and in pain, but when I swallow it gets much worse. No current issues with heartburn or respiratory issues otherwise, this just started suddenly after lying down for several hours

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your query you have symptoms of tightness and pain in throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take tablet Sinarest. For relief of throat pain take Calpol. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. Take luke warm water with turmeric dissolved in it. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Your symptoms will start resolving, if symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start proper antibiotic course after thorough examination. Go for fiber optic scan if your symptoms are not resolving at all to find out exact cause and then start treatment.
