Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Over the past two years I have noticed a tightness around the right wrist, a feeling that I am wearing a watch that ism too tight. However, there is no pain and the sensation stops after exercising, mostly jogging. I am 70 years of age and in good health with no history or cardiac or overweight issues. I have been unable to determine if this symptoms support a further diagnosis or test
Tightness around the wrist is commonly due to sprains, fractures, overuse at work place, stress, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an orthopedics, get investigations done to rule out any fracture or tear of the tendons or ligaments. If there is a fracture or tear your wrist will need rest. If there is no such pathology than you can do few stretch exercises for the wrist and hand under a Physiotherapist.
Squeezing a ball is a very good exercise for carpal tunnel syndrome. Application of cold or warm packs is also effective. Avoid deep tissue massage. Light massage without applying pressure will help to relieve pain and stress. You can apply a thick layer of pain relieving ointment. Combined treatment with analgesics, physical therapy and wrist splints are effective.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
