Hi Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Understanding your concern.
As you mention in your query that you are on exercise resign and you got tightness and soreness in your calf muscle .The most probable cause for this is shin
splint (as you mention ).It usually happens in people doing very hard exercise or very quick action .There can also happen when the surface suddenly change while running .
Anatomical abnormality, lack of proper warm up and stretching also be the possible reason .It can be diagnosed properly by orthopedic surgeon with the help of imaging techniques or Xrays .
I would suggest you take proper rest ,which is extremely important in this case ,Apply ice pack to your calf 2-3 times a day ,use
diclofenac or
ibuprofen (if you are not allergic to it )and keep your leg elevated .Don't exercise until it will get to normal .
If condition persist or worsen (swelling)consult orthopedic surgeon ,who can investigate it properly to teat it and rule out conditions like ccompartment syndrome .
hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well Soon.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
