i m a 68 year old female in relatively good health except for burning pain when walking any distance in my right ankle and bottom of my foot. My calf muscles get very tight also. I ve had an MRI of my back and have out of alignment with the 4th and 5th vertabrae. I do pilates and zumba and have no problem with exercising except for any steady walking. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As there is intense calf tightness, burning in ankle and soles on walking any distance, vascular claudication with insufficient blood supply has to be evaluated against the neurologic claudication. In my clinic, I do recommend a Doppler ultrasound examination of the lower limb blood vessels for precise management and guidelines accordingly. Control of blood sugar and cholesterol is very very vital in this regard.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
