What Causes Tightness In Chest And Lump In Throat?

I am 21 year old female, 5'6 150 pounds, and for the past few months, perhaps about two months, I have had moments where my chest feels incredibly tight. A lump in my throat. Pain in my chest and neck. It is very painful when it happens and last from about 6 minutes to 25. I am wondering what this could possibly be, some people suggested anxiety attacks?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ometime acute anxiety can lead to chest heaviness and dyspnea like problem. But before labeling it is an stress induced problem you should get investigated with chest X Ray and spirometry if needed. Your auscultation also should be done. You are also mentioning lump in the throat. So for that your throat and pharynx examination is must. If any lump identify then we have to do biopsy from that. According to cause specific treatment given Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
