Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a small heart attack in 2011 and am now on heart medication to regulate my heart health, which I take like clock work. Today I am at work sitting at a computer, it is a very low to no stress job. About 15 minutes ago, I started feeling a tightness in my throat on the right side and also tightness in my chest when I breathe and wonder if this is cause for concern. I hate to run to the ER every time I have symptoms like this, but don t typically get this type of feeling?
* As per my clinical experience, the tightness in chest with breathing problem while working at computer seems to be in relation to acute anxiety or panic attacks if the rest of the cardio respiratory causes are being ruled out.
* In my clinic, I do recommend a review of
- thorough physical examination of chest and respiratory system, cardiovascular system including any abnormal breath sounds, heart murmur and adventitial lung sounds if any
- x-ray of the chest
- EKG
- complete hemogram to see level of hemoglobin and total white cell counts
- ESR
If any of the above reports are available, kindly share with me for further correspondence.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
