What Causes Tightness In Chest While Having Depression?

Im going through depresion right now but dont seem to shake the feeling of uneasiness in the upper chest. I do smoke about 6 cig s a day and trying to quit. Breathing does not seem to be a problem even though i suffer from panic attacks once in a while. I try to do breathing excercise to calm myself down. I concerned shoul i be about this slight tighness in the upper chest?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should first rule out cardiac and pulmonary causes as you are smoker.
So please get done ECG to rule out cardiac cause.
Get done chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out bronchitis.
If all of the above are normal than it is mostly due to depression only.
Anxiety can be associated with depression and cause this kind of symptom.
Panic attacks can be the cause.
So try to avoid stress. Consult your psychiatrist and get dond counselling sessions.
