Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
umm my father and i are both having this tight feeling in our uper chest it is like a feeling of acid, perhaps like a burp but only a couple light burps come out and those are temporary relief, it is very uncomfortable and my dad feels like its a heart attack but im certain it isnt if we are both feeling it.
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns.. Tightness of chest may be due to simple muscular pain, gaseous problem but it can be due to angina(pain due to heart problems). So proper evaluation is necessary. As such from your history it looks like it's a pain due to acidity only.
Still my advice is-
1.Ask your doctor to do one ecg., at least your father should go for it. Any abnormality in heart blood supply will be picked up by ecg . if ecg will be normal it will pain due to acidity.
2.Eat less spicy and oily foods, less cabbage and cauliflowers, potatoes as all can cause gaseous problems. Avoid excessive pain killers.
Don't worry, many effective medications are available which will easily treat gaseous problem. Only you need written prescription from a doctor. Thank you. Have a nice day.
