What Causes Tightness In Chest?

I have asthma and I think I have bronchitis, my college health center gave me benzonatate which didn t help very much but the combination of rest and my inhaler did seem to help.I ran out of the medication today and was feeling great yesterday but as I was getting dressed just now,I began a whistling wheezing whenever I breathe through my mouth.I have taken my steroid and regular inhaler as well as a cough suppressant earlier. My chest also feels tight but I can currently talk.My roommate is concerned that this is the beginning of an asthma attack, should I be going to see a doctor right now?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you are having acute asthma attack.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest x ray.
3. PFT ( pulmonary function test ).
Lung infection is the common cause for worsening of underlying asthma. So chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is needed to diagnose severity of the asthma as treatment of asthma is based on severity only.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and start appropriate treatment.
You may need injectable bronchodilators and steroid too.
