What Causes Tightness In Lungs With History Of Bronchiolitis And Asthma?
I was born with a lung disease called bronchiolitis, i was clear of that when i turned two years old but developed asthma, I had asthma up until i was 10 years old then I became clear of that too, then at the age of 13 i started smoking but quit at 15 started again when i was roughly 16 1/2 and have carried on smoking, I am now 17 years old and i am currently struggling to breathe properly i feel a tightness within my lungs and there are strong pains in my chest area as well as the fact I ve been Wheezing a lot lately, I have however been using my girlfriends asthma pump which has helped only a small part but im still struggling to breathe clearly, I was hoping there was a diagnostic for these symptoms as i can t get any advice elsewhere for some reason. I am going to have a Spiro test ( lung capacity test ) tomorrow morning at my local G.P s I m just feeling very depressed as i know my results will not be good... Please help me
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of obstructive Airway disease (OAD) is more likely because of your smoking habit and childhood lung disease (bronchiolitis). So get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test - spirometry). If it shows obstructive Airway defect then you will need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Smoking cessation should be done as soon as possible. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
