What Causes Tightness In The Center Of Chest?

I am having a tightness in the center of my chest with a little restricted breathing. This has been going off and on for a couple of weeks, but is worse as of yesterday. It is worse when I do something strenuous and better when sit and rest. With in the last month have had an echocardigram and nuclear stress test . So, am inclined to believe it is not a problem with the heart

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to costochondritis. Pain while palpation on rib area is characteristic for this. For such cases i would recommend using anti inflammatory gels like ketoprofen for local application. You can also take oral tablets of it if pain is more. If there is no improvement then local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic will be helpful.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
