Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Which type of doctor should I see for general tightness in chest that is not going away with inhalers, tightness in throat, (I have exercise induced asthma), lump in my armpit, - I ve been to general doctor, and have been put on steroids - but how long til it works? now I think I should see someone more specific..
You can ask your GP to refer you to a lung doctor called pneumonologist which will be able to do some tests like spirometry and chest xray and other tests if needed like CT scan to rule out lung problems or diagnose them and properly treat. If the chest tightness is from exercise induced asthma it should happen only with exercise and use of the blue pump (salbutamol) before exercise should suffice to control the symptoms and regular use of steroids should have helped as well.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
