What Causes Tightness In The Chest, Tinnitus And Sore Throat?

My wife was stung by a wasp on Friday and had a bad reaction. She went to the dr., who prescribed an antibiotic and Benadryl. Two days later she deveoped the following symptoms: chest tightness, ringing in one ear, a sore throat on the same side. She went in to the ER and they did 2 EKGs, a chest X-ray, and blood tests. All came back normal. Today, she s having the same symptoms, plus her leg and hand have been cramping. She stopped taking the Benadryl last night because the dr. thought she might be having side effects from it. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Hi dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have tightness in the chest, tinnitus and sore throat . Tinnitus isn't a condition itself but it's a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, ear injury or a circulatory system disorder. Sometimes tinnitus along with head ache also represent conditions like acoustic neuroma and meniere's disease . Simple reasons like stress and anxiety can also cause tinnitus and headaches . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to find out exact cause . Doctor may order certain tests like audiological test , rushing test , high and low pitched test . Doctor may also refer you to pulmonologist for chest infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like penicillin or amoxicillin along with anti inflammatory and multivitamin vitamin for quick recovery , doctor may also prescribe supplement like ginkgo biloba for tinnitus . Do warm saline gargles , do meditation and yoga and take steam .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
