What Causes Tightness In The Shoulder And Pain In The Ribs While Breathing?

I have been sitting in an awkward position for a while, but not sure this is what brought this on as I have tried to stretch out as well. My left shoulder has been tight for some time from the position I sleep in but right now it won t quit burning. Also I cannot take a deep breath without it hurting the muscles in my back or ribs. I have a pretty high pain tolerance bit it completely takes my breath away. I tried to lay on May back to stretch and that is unbearable, I can t seem to breathe.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There can be various possible issues as acute muscle spasm, ligament sprain or else. I recommend an immediate relieving factor with local application of analgesic spray or ointment, tablet as Diclofenac, Ibuprofen or Tramadol Hydrochloride prescription. Consult your specialist as per the need and evaluation by your primary care provider.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
