Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On Monday I lent over to pick something up and felt a pulling and tightness in my upper chest. For the next two day I have tightness in my chest and is hard to bend over with out it hurting. There is a spot on my chest that is tender to touch. I m not sure if I pulled something or is something really wrong
Shortness of breath and chest tightness should always be suspected as a heart problem such as ischemic heart disease. So first of all, you should have ECG performed and blood work for Creatinine Kinase (CK-MB) and troponine (Ischemic Heart Markers). Depending of these examinations there might be other tests required like heart ultrasound.
Blood work for thyroid disease should be performed as well and ions level (magnesium and calcium shortage may often result with such symptoms). According to your gastric problems, it is common that GERD (Reflux Disease) is associated with asthma disease which can have similar symptoms. Chest X-ray and spectrometry should be performed to rule it out.
If you suffer from GERD also gastroscopy is advisable. If all this tests will be negative, it is a possibility that your symptoms are caused by stress or anxiety. In such case, psychiatrist might be helpful.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
