What Causes Tightness In Throat While Suffering From Cyst In Thyroid?

I just found out that I have 3 cysts in my thyroid. The doctor say that it is not causing my problems with swallowing food. I hade a scope and swallow test but nothing showed. I also feel like my throat is tight, I have to cough, my breathing gets raspy, when I laugh hard, yell or anything like that. I also have a random hiccup. Could these be caused by my thyroid?? Or do I have another problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The barium swallow or the other test that you would have done to assess your ability to swallow, were normal indicating there is no structural problem or obstruction causing your swallowing issues.

Imaging of the thyroid and throat would have determined if the thyroid was contributing, since this was not seen, it is not likely a cause.

This means that you need to determine if there is another cause for your symptoms.
Allergic sinusitis with post nasal drip can cause coughing and abnormal sensations in the throat.

I hope this helps
