What Causes Tingling And Numbness In Calf And Painful Sole Post Thyroidectomy?

I had a thyroidectomy last Friday and while walking around today, I had a lot of tingling and numbness in my right calf which continued for some time. I also had pain the sole of my right foot/heal. I am now home and relaxing and do not feel either. Is this just because I am doing too much walking this soon after surgery?

Hi dear!

Thanks for consulting the Physicians at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your health worries. Being your physician, I reassure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon.
No its not due to your walking. Rather thats good for you to walk.
What happens is with total thyroidectomy, parathyroid glands are also removed mostly and it causes Calcium imbalance. I recommend my patients after thyroidectomy to take calcium and vitamin C effervescent tablets 3times a day after checking blood calcium levels.
Consult your surgeon for further information about this.

May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful' & give a five Stars too. Write a review about your experience with me.
