What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Fingers And Toes?

I I have recently started to get some tingling and numbness in my fingers and toes. I am over weight so right away I am assuming that it is the beginning of diabetes. However, I was also a former athlete of some violent sports, I.e. Ice hockey, and have had servical spine issues.
