What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Tongue?
Four days ago I started getting a tingling/numbness on one side of my tongue. Followed by a tingling feeling inside my cheeks and in my jaw. It feels like my salivary glands just won't let up but I can't understand how the two are related. The tingling in my cheeks is worse if I touch or massage the area of my parotid glands (either side).
I plan to call the doctor on Monday but I can't stop thinking about it. Is this something I should be concerned about or can it wait until Monday?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tingling sensation and numbness in the tongue which could be due to many reasons such as initial stage of bell's palsy, hypothyroidism, diabetes and vitamin deficiency. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start low dose steroid immediately. Consult oral physician once for perfect diagnosis and to find out exact cause. You should go for complete blood tests and get it treated accordingly. Apply dologel. Neurotropic medication such as nerve supplement methylcobalamin is effective to improve your symptoms. Drink plenty of fluids. For now give gentle massage to tongue with olive oil.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
