What Causes Tingling Sensation In Body While Coughing?

When I have a coughing spell from either a cold or from choking on something I experience electrical shocks throughout my body. They are very painful and are more bothersome than the hard coughing. What causes this? Is this something to be concerned about? As I get older the feeling gets worse.
