What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Ankle Of The Left Foot?

Several times today my left ankle/foot has had a strange hot tingly sensation. It comes and goes very quickly-- in a second. Although it s not painful, it s uncomfortable--kind of like my foot goes to sleep for a moment. The tingling is always accompanied by a very warm sensation. This happened once yesterday, and once about 10 days again, too. I m a runner, and the first time it happened today was after my (brisk 7-mile) run.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The kind of pain you describe is typical of a nerve related pain which comes and goes quickly and has the tingling or burning sensation. It might be a nerve pinch at the level of the ankle due to muscle spasms locally or it can originate at the back where the nerve comes out of the spine.

In both cases it is important to see a physiotherapist and see if there are exercises that will help relieve the pinched nerve and if not improved with this or any worsening you will need to see a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
