What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Fingers?

My right finger and thumb are tingling and the very end of the first finger on my right hand seems to be going to sleep or numb Super sensitive to hot water with pain in finger........don t know if it s from the arthritis in my hands (since the weather has been crazy lately) , or diabetic nerve pain (since I am pre diabetic on metformin) or something else. My left hand has a similar feeling in the thumb and first finger on the left hand. I sleep with wrist bands on because of repetitive use of my hands for certain task.....is that diabetic neuropathy????? Obviously I am guessing...........Mary C

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that it's Diabetic neuropathy not arthritis. There may be carpel tunnel syndrome too but most chances I will go with diabetic neuropathy as it's quite common.

Control your blood sugar levels, have intake of bit B12 tabs and vit c tabs. Have a nerve study conducted.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
