Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was testing myself for diabetes. My mom is a diabetic and I got her testing kit not knowing that the needle I used was one she used. My mother has been dead now going on three years. My legs are tingling and I keep her purse and thought I would test myself without knowing anything about the equipment/needles. I should be concerned right?
I went through your query here are a few things you should know regarding it:
1) Diabetes is not a communicable disease/it won't spread through needles.
2) Tingling and numbness can be because of various causes, it can be due to diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, anemia and any other cause of B12 deficiency, even anxiety causes it.
3)To alleviate the confusion go to a nearby General physician and get yourself evaluated for your fasting and postprandial blood glucose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
General & Family Physician
