What Causes Tingling Sensation On Lower Jaw,chin And Left Ear After Having Dental Anesthesia?
I have a dental anaesthetic about 6 weeks ago now. I remember the numbness/tingliness spreading from my lower right jaw, around to my chin, and to the left ear. The tingling in my left ear has never gone away, and today I get sporadic tingling in the centre extremities of my left ear, and it is irritating more than painful. Sometimes it spreads slightly to just above my left ear nearer to the temple. Is this serious and will it ever go away?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms persistent tingling sensation after dental anaesthesia is a sign of nerve injury that is caused during anaesthesia as the needle might have pricked the nerve during insertion leading to nerve injury..
It may take from a few weeks to a few months for the nerve to heal but the exact time duration for healing is uncertain.. As of now you should wait for some more time, say for a month and in this duration do warm compresses over the tingling and numb areas and take a multivitamin tablet daily..
In case if you still do not find any improvement in one month consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
