Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. The
common cold can cause headache with heaviness due to nasal blockade,
sinusitis. As per your father symptomatology, it appears that he might be having sinusitis.
Sinusitis is an infection of air sinuses which open into nose. Infection leads to swelling and blockade of opening and thus prevents drainage of its secretions. Thus leads to headache, heaviness.
Treatment includes
: avoid cold food/environment
: inhale steam 4-5 times daily
: have warm/hot food/drink
: You should give him Paracetamol-Xylometazoline-
Cetrizine combination after proper prescription. It will relieve swelling, drain secretion and decrease secretion.
: You should give him antibiotic like Co-amoxyclav therapy after proper prescription.
Hope it will help him. If still no relief or symptoms increase insecurity,
consult doctor. He/she will examine him, get some tests like blood investigation/X ray of
paranasal sinuses or CT paranasal sinus and head to confirm diagnosis. Further treatment will be decided after confirming diagnosis.
Thanks. Take care.
