What Causes Tinnitus Along With Abdominal Discomfort And Diarrhea?

Hi. I have two questions. First. Recently, but this has occurred in the past too, I find that when I move my eyes horizontally, I am hearing several ( usually two or three) rapid whooshing, or swishing noises in my ears. Second, the past five days my abdomen has felt uncomfortable with lots of noises, not a lot of gas. I ve had some soft bowel movements followed by some loose and even watery movements. Some of these have been very tiny BMs. But I am just not happy or comfortable. Thank you for your help

Hi,

Tinnitus is a common issue and most causes are benign and temporary. However, this lasts for a longer period then it should be evaluated.

Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc.

Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness. I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x-ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti-anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
