What Causes Tinnitus Along With Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

My wife has developed a condition over the past year where she will hear very uncomfortable high pitch noise that I don t ever hear. She tells me that she can move to somewhere else in the home and escape the noise but at other times she cannot. It is not 24 hrs a day. She may go a day or two and not hear it but when she does, her blood pressure and heart rate will rise and she says she can feel pressure on her body. She has been to the Doctor but no known cause has been established. She took an audio test and was told that she has slight tinnitus in one ear. Her condition has gotten so bad that she now thinks I may be causing the problem with some device. We have been marrued for 43 years and harming her is somethin I have never done or would do. Any idea what may be happening to her or where I cna take her to get help?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The noise is due to the tinnitus that you mention. Tinnitus refers to the presence of abnormal noises in the ear that only the person would be able to hear.

In some persons there is no obvious cause for tinnitus.

It would be best for her to visit her doctor again or another ENT so that the diagnosis can be properly explained to her, so that she would realize that it has nothing to do with you.

I hope this helps
