What Causes Tinnitus And Hearing Loss?

dear Dr. I am 68 and have had tinnitus for about 3 years. At first it was just the mild humming but now there is also a high pitched ringing. My MRI is normal and I have no wax build up. hearing loss and tinnitus both started suddenly on the same day. the high pitched ringing can be reduced by the way I put mu head when I sleep. What is the cause of this situation? Thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As the MRI is normal, the bony conductive defects are ruled out.
* The most common predictive aetiology sounds to be from the ischemia or infarction related to vestibulocochlear neurons.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
