What Causes Tinnitus And Muffled Hearing?

I suddenly had a muffled right ear about three to four weeks ago. Then about a week ago it changed to hear a vibrating sound with every heart beat. I am desperate to get to sleep but can t and I am a musician and am very sound conscious. I have seen a GP who advises steaming. I have steamed with a facial steamer and hope that is the right thing to do..presumably one doesn t steam the actual ear. I take raloxofin and have taken it for some time and hope that it hasn t caused build up of bone. I am under the hospital for recovery from malignant melanoma so there are background concerns there. I have had ongoing catahr going down the back of the throat. I also had an infected root canal going up wards from a tooth several years ago, I notice also that my throat is looking a bit red on the right. What can I do? Last week in desperation I rang 111 but they advised me to see my GP. Thanks.
